August hits like a threshold: tomatoes still ripen, but the garden starts to thin, the trees hint at change, and something in us quietly turns with it. I’m Emily O’Neal, and I wanted to offer a gentle, grounded pause for anyone who feels that liminal season shift, whether you’re in the Pacific Northwest or listening from a completely different climate. This is a reflective, sensory, spiritual check-in meant to help you come back to your body and your inner life.

We start with a simple 5-senses grounding practice you can do anywhere: noticing what you see, what you can touch, how water feels as you drink it, and what happens when you actually taste your food. From there, we widen the lens to the mind, tracking repetitive thought loops, intense emotions, and the difference between naming a feeling and describing the sensation in your body. If you’ve been ungrounded, overwhelmed, or craving clarity, this kind of mindfulness can be a steady doorway back to yourself.

Then I read an original poem, “August,” and we explore its themes of surrender, devotion, and the sacred truth that some things must fall away to feed what comes next. I pull a card from the Blooming Wand Elemental Wisdom Oracle Deck, and the message is “Depth” and the invitation to explore the mysteries within your soul.

We talk about intuitive development, journaling as a private practice you can tailor to feel safe, and why real spiritual insight rarely arrives on demand or on a scroll. We also make room for the bittersweet realities of summer, including wildfire smoke, climate change, and choosing mindful action without panic.

If this lands, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s in transition, and leave a review so more people can find grounded spiritual support. What are you harvesting since last August?
